Hi i have been finding these little white flies or mites in the soil in my chubby frog tank, so i cleaned the full tank and bought new substrate and they keep coming back i got told they could be springtails apparently they help clean the tank or something? they dont seem to be affecting him or anything

could be lots of things, pics would help.

most likely springtails, they do appear out of nowhere.

Sounds like compost gnats and springtails to me.

Neither pose any threat to your animals.

Check on the poo picking though, make sure there is not loads hidden away.

The way to know that they're springtails is to basically poke one or blow at one, if it jumps then it's a springtail. Also, springtails are a bit more oval than round.
