I recently discovered this stuff and wondered if anyone had experience with it? Is it any good as a substrate?
I had heard it was alot better than sand as a substrate because its harder and could be better for lizards that suffer from possible impaction from the substrate.
I use this for my Ackie monitor (outback red type) and it is fairly good. Only about £10.50 from Surrey Reptile Supplies for 20litres. Only thing is though, you seriously need to dry it out before putting it into your viv as if you put it in straight away, it leaves load of water vapour on the glass and viv walls.
Not really any problems. It smells a bit weird at first if thats a problem. As for holding burrows, my Ackie does dig but i havent seen any burrows yet so im not sure soz!
I have used this for Beardies, Bosc's and Collared lizards and never really had a problem i didnt find that it leaves loads of water vapour on the glass and viv walls but it was a bit dusty in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
