cheers all, yeah i really like arcadia and have 2 of their 12% t5 UVB strips, i have a solarmeter 6.2 to test the strength and must say they are very impressive although nothing competes to natural sunlight on a good day (i guess its hard for companies to do this) so we have to use what is closest and at the moment that is arcadia
going off that article it suggests a strip would be better as it would cover more of the viv ?
Looking at the science of reptile lighting and the inherent limitations of tech it is apparent that the footprint from most M.V lamps is too narrow for some enclosures and species.
They are also expensive to run!
It is better for your animals and your running costs to let T5 do the donkey work and usenthe basking lamps for areas of UV and heat boosting first thing in the morning and evening.
The animal will self regulate readily and obtain all that it's needs itself.
You can successfully use M.V on it's own in smaller enclosures but T5s and reflectors really do a wonderful job.
Happy to help if anything isn't clear
John
