Hello!

I am the very proud new owner of a leopard tortoise and I understand that the diet should consist of a lot of grass and hay as well as wild flowers.
My question is, I have two rabbits and have a big bag of hay or them which I buy from Pets At Home. Is this suitable to feed a tortoise this sort of hay?

They may eat some sweet smelling hays but it's mainly the grass and clover they love.

You are right, their diet should be around 70% mixed grasses and 30% flowers and weeds. They love to be outside (when the weather is good) and graze naturally. Of course any lawns should be chemical free.

Well done they are a fab tortoise to keep - they like meadow hay or Timothy hay - don't be surprised if it doesn't eat it at first - mine still aren't keen !!!
