I got my corn snake 6 months ago and he's brilliant!

They are probably the best beginners snake (although opinions vary) as they are very easy to look after and quite hardy, meaning they will normally tolerate any beginners mistakes. Most have quite a calm temperament once they get used to you, especially if handled from a young age, and generally they are good feeders.

Be sure to do plenty of research and read up on the various care sheets online to make sure you can provide everything he/she will need..... go to your local exotic petshop and have a look around and enjoy your new snake! :)

(or you can look in the classifieds :D )

get a few books, and read some care sheets. Also when you go to the reptile shop (if you go:p) ask th em what you're missing etc. (if you get the equipment first that is lol)

for a hatchling you can use a faurnarium with a heat mat under 1/3 of the floor with a hide and water bowl, as it gets bigger upgrade to a viv, some people use newspaper or kitchen roll for hatchlings but i used beech chips since i first got mine.
