Because they are a large breed they can be prone to hip dysplasia like Maine Coons, so you need to be aware of that and pkd has been found in some, but other than 'normal' cat problems and diseases I haven't heard of anything else that is specific to Wegies.
Thank you. Do any members live with one. Would like to know what they are like to live with :lol2: I have a very nice male normal cross breed Blue cat (He has had the chop : victory He is out most the day hunting. We got him off a farm. Im not getting one right now just trying to find the best breed for us.
My friend used to breed them not long after they first came into this country and she said they weren't as placid and laid back as the Maine Coons (she also bred them), but as a breed she certainly liked them. Said they were a bit more 'wired up' than the Coons, but like the other semi-longhaired breeds, they liked company and to be around people - she just had a problem sometimes with their climbing abilities!! :lol2:
