I've an engineer coming today to fit an isolater switch for my electrics. I don't know how long this will take, but obviously everything's going to be switched off so I am worried about my filter bacteria being effected. Any suggestions?

you worried about the temps? ... when we had a power cut before, thankfully i was home, grabbed some 2litre drinks bottles, filled them with hot water from the tap and floated them in the tank.

kept the temps nice and stable.

Then just re-fil the bottles with hot water again once its gone cold.

As long as the power isn't off for any extended period of time it shouldn't be a real problem, the 'leccy board blew up my substation and I was out for 2 days. Battery pumps for aeration (and big ass sponge filters media provided from main external), Summer days for warmth with hot water bottles at night if needed and a quick pray I had no major losses just a little case of whitespot which was easy to fix.
