I have what was labelled as a "peppermint pacman frog".

Therefore is it Cranwelli or ornata? or a hybrid?

Also, I'm assuming the "peppermint" is a line bred trait?

Is there any truth in them changing colour to match their surroundings?

I can't find a great deal of decent info on the net so if anyone has any good links please share them.

A peppermint is a colour variation of the Cranwelli pacman frogs. They will lose their colour as they get older but not to match their surroundings. Although they will stay bright looking if you keep them on certain substrates as opposed to coco fibre as obviously they will get a bit mucky :2thumb: my albino only has a yellow face, the rest of hims covered in soil :lol2:

I mostly get my info from books, but the one caresheet I have knocking around is Horned Frog Care sheet - The Amphibian.co.uk. Ornate Horned Frog, Cranwell's Horned Frog, Pacman Frog, Ceratophrys ornata, Ceratophrys cranwelli, captive care, feeding, breeding, housing and more. although it doesn't go much into colour variations if it's info on the peppermints you're after :no1:
