Hey guys after doing a bit of research on google i have decide that the pine corner shelf should be varnished just to be on the safe side.
The plywood shelf that is already in has not been varnished as i have read that its safe for reps in a few places.
Just read however that plywood is generally made of pine? and that it is still safe because pine used in ply wood has been heat treated.
Any thoughts?

i varnish all plywood and pine in my vivs to be on the safeside.
on the plus side it also makes it last a lot longer.
Cheers for the input. The shelf is on the hot side just under the basking spot so didn't bother varnishing. The corner shelf however i will be varnishing as it will be within my AWDs splash-zone :lol2:

The shelf in ATM is easily detachable so may varnish it aswell at some point.
