When I tested my new heat mat without a thermostat attached, it didn't heat up much at all.
Does it need to have a thermostst attached to bring the temerature up?

I couldn't find out myself scince my thermostat arrived broken, but i'm getting a new one soon :D

Just wanted to know cos I thought my Mat might be broke aswell :p

Regards,
Alex

Yeah I used a digital thermometer on the hottest part of the surface.
I've got a wooden viv and the bottoms pretty thick so I might have to put it inside the viv instead. I'll cover it up with something though, so the snake doesn't get burned.

It's for a Royal.

I've got a 60w reflector bulb aswell with a lamp guard. I got it all in a starter kit form exotic-pets.co.uk
I'm still waiting for a replacement stat before I get the royal though.
