Remember it very well. I was out in the yard changing a wheel on a truck when the Station Comander came on the tannoy instructing all personel on none critical duties to return to their section. When I got back in everyone was sat in the crew room with BBC news 24 on. We sat there pretty much all day watching it.. Can't believe that was 5 years ago. I watched the program the other night, must admit I nearly cried watching it. Horrible.

Well, being serious for once ...

It shocked the hell out of me, I'm a very peaceful person, and it's beyonf me what these loonies do in name of a religion (that's probably why I despise all religions).

I've got some emotional bindings with the big apple, I lived there for a year when I was 18, and loved it. Afterwards I went back there once in my first marriage honey moon.

In 1991 I went up the twin towers and have a very nice picture with Melissa (my girlfriend at the time). I'll search for this picture and post here

I remember being told and watching it on TV... couldn't believe it at all.. seemed so unreal. A mate came over and said that they were really good effects and it looked like a good film. I had to tell him about 5 times that it was real before it finally sank in. Seeing the towers collapse, knowing there were probably 100s upon 100s of people inside was the worst bit for me to watch.

I then got told off at school the next day for being happy because it was my birthday. I was told I should be upset about the 1000s of lives that had been destroyed and not happy it was my birthday.

Forgot to mention, at the time I had just moved into the UK, and was working in the airfreight industry for about 6 month. It had a big impact in the air industry, and 5 years on it didn't get any better really. It's a nightmare working with airfreight these days in age, the fuel prices went through the roof, a lot of new security regulations in place, war risk insurance having to be paid to airlines, a complete nightmare.

A huge amount of people lost their jobs in my industry, specially in the 2 years after 9/11. Now things are not as bad, but it will never be the same.

I was on exercise in the army for the month so missed it all! We did get told when it happened but thought it was some sort of exercise scenario so didn't really pay attention to it! Then when we got letters from home and stuff we thought shit they weren't lying!

i regret 9/11(iraq had nothing to do with it) not just because it was sad but because it brought fourth a pointless war for dirty republicians to try and gain a ton of oil(worth about 7 trillion) and even more stupidy from bush and blair.
