I have got the timing's wrong and setup my incbator with vermiculite to early. I have now swiched the incubator off as the eggs will be awhile yet.

Can the vermiculite just be left in the eggs boxes and just add more water when the time comes to turn it back on?

Thanks

If you are concerned about it harbouring anything just place in a baking tray and put in the oven for half an hour or so.

ps. do not microwave.

Is there a chance it could be harboring something?

It's just had water added and placed in a sealed tub.

After all, if I got the timings correct. Then the eggs would be sat in there now anyway.

I know of someone who has been using the same few tubs of vermiculite for about 15 years, just keeps re-wetting it. Not saying you should do that, but a little while wont make any difference.
