i have a common boa at just over a year old and a little over 3 foot. is there any way of telling the sex just by looking? like any distinguishing features that are different from male to female? i have no experience in popping or probing so am not going to risk trying it with only looking on the internet and reading. does anyone know a good vet that could do it around west midlands? and tell how much it would cost?

male boa's have larger spurs - like small claws on the side of the vent. they also have slightly longer tails and a leaner overall appearance when adult. whack a photo up and i will give it a shot - but its nothing more than an educated guess. if you want confirmed results go down to a local reptile shop and ask them to probe
