Do you want to make your snake famous?
Then look no further.......

We are filming a music video shoot in central London (location TBC)
We are looking for an owner of a snake who is up for a fun day out, letting their snake be filmed for an independent video.
This is for up and coming artist Rebecca Phillips.
Her music has currently had support from Radio 1 extra, I-D magazine and Resident Advisor.
This video will go along with the release of her second single.

If you know anyone who would be willing to get involved please drop me a message I would love to hear from you!: victory:

Lets say you are serious, and this isn't another wind up;

What kind of snake, any preference?
What size snake are you looking for?
Will severely limit your choices, but any preference in colour?
Will the animal be filmed on its own, or will the singer be touching/handling it at any point?
How long will the animal be required for approximately?
Are you providing a secure area with electricity to power a heat source?
Are you offering any payment and/or travel expenses?

Hahahahahahahahahaha. A baby Hognose would just be so precious!
Or a little KSB in a tub of sand. Now you see me. Now you don’t.
I expect they will be looking for a royal/bci/maybe a young burm at a guess.

I’m just refreshing this at work waiting for a reply. I’m really curious what these guys want for their shoot and hope it’s a little hoggy. That would be priceless. :p

Hi there,

This is definitely not a wind up!
I am however a complete snake novice.
Colour we aren't fussy on at all.
Size, something which shows well on camera but at the end of the day we are asking people to get involved for free so I don't want to put limitations on this either.
Saying this however although baby hognose looks so cute, we would want something that could at least drape around the neck?
As for location this is yet to be determined, but i think it will most likely be in someones house, so we could reserve a space for the power/heat source needed.

Hope this helps!
Any thank you for your reply.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your response!
This is absolutely not a wind up, anyone who is willing to get involved we can exchange emails or Facebook to provide further details. For now I hope the below information answers your questions.

In terms of size we need something which would look good draped around a neck? In light of this we would also need a snake with a more gentle temperament?
I don't think colour is too much of an issue as we are looking for anyone who is willing to get involved.
For the electricity the location is TBC but the premise of the video is set in a bathroom so we would most likely be in someones house which would provide the electric.
We have little to no budget for this but I will ask Rebecca about the potential of reimbursing travel costs as this seems only fair for someone who was willing to do us such a favour!
As you can probably tell I am a complete snake novice, however although baby hognose's look very cute we would need something a little bigger.

In the meantime you could always Google " snakes " images and see what takes your fancy then come back here and say what your preferences are ??

You need to research this more, and by the sounds of it trying to do it all on the cheap in someones house rather than a professional studio.

For an impressive impact on camera you are looking at a boa, Burmese, retic or carpet python of at least 6' or more. Having any of these snakes around someone neck is dangerous and the sort of irresponsible action we try to prevent.

My guess is that if you approached an agency to provide a suitable snake, with handler and facilities to keep it suitable warm you would be looking at £100 - £300 per day plus expenses. You may be lucky and find someone willing to do this for the "fame" in saying that their snake appears in some obscure video promoting a song from a relatively unheard off singer (google doesn't throw up enough to inspire me to drag my 7' boa out for the day)

You are also vague in your answers.

You failed to answer the direct questions with direct answers. If you were serious / professional about this you would already have an idea of what is required, how long for, and confirmation of payment.

My gut feeling about this is that if its not a wind up then its going to be the singers partner using domestic equipment to make a video in some 3 bed semi... it isn't like previous appeals for snakes where an agency is involved.

(anyone remember the one where payment was a round of sandwiches !!)

Let's not forget the legal issue too. I am fairly certain that a Performing Animals Licence will be needed somewhere along the line.

OP, snakes are not infrequently used in filming, rather than trying to do this on the cheap with no thoughts on safety of the singer or indeed the snake, perhaps you should be looking to the various professional companies around the UK who are 1) licenced to use animals for performances 2) insured for such activities and 3) have the practical experience to enable you to film the footage you want.
If you are a legitimate film maker then I am sure you will be able to locate these companies rather than posting a very bland, non descript thread on a forum such as this.

Again, whilst I absolutely agree what others have said above about draping snakes around necks, people will still need more information on size. My corn will happily sit wrapped around my neck while I’m cleaning her viv, but I don’t think that’s the image you’re looking for.

Just to clarify, the reason people may not be fans of the idea on here is even smaller boids like royals can tighten up when they are nervous. For example if you’ve been dragged out of your box, driven to London and put on an unstable perch, like shoulders, while someone, probably, waves their arms and moves around.
And there’s always the pointy end. The calmest snake might have a bad day and I’m sure your artist doesn’t want to get tagged by a large bodied snake.

But. But. But.

If you’re absolutely set on the idea, and you don’t want to go through an agency, wait for someone with a lot of experience to contact you. A new owner might be able to talk the talk, but once his/her snake decides to act out they might not be confident in fixing the problem.

I don't think the OP is serious, and this may just be another one of those random threads to make the forum look busy. If I had posted the request I would be responding to replies a lot more frequent than the OP has....

Hasnt this thread been closed down yet? If you really want an unknown youtube singer to have an 8 foot boa round here neck then be my guest. When it all goes tits up cause someone wants to be the next Jennifer Lawrence (That pick is herp porn) it wont be the people involved that suffer!!

Go away and leave this O so quiet forum alone!!!

Thank you for your advice about the snake around the neck - this is the kind of thing that I came on here to find out.

just for some clarification - I never said we are professional music video producers - anyone who is willing to get involved I can send you over Rebecca's spotify. She is a real person who has been featured on the radio and has a manager. I produce for my job but this is a project outside of work that I am helping her with for free.

The whole 'fame' thing was meant as more of a witty start to my post in order to gain some interest, I'm not claiming to turn your snake into the next Lady Gaga. I just wanted to introduce myself and the project in a fun way.

The reason i'm vague in my answers is that we are just starting to put this together and I also am not a snake expert - hence why I came here for some help and advice.
Yes this might end up being filmed in a house if it turns out to be the right location but why is that a negative?
Once again I'm looking for advice/ anyone thats willing to get involved in a fun project. Yes I would love to offer to pay expenses but I don't want to promise this until I know for certain.
I definitely wouldn't offer to pay anyone with a sandwich.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply and for your advice
