i live in ashford and i have just seen this show on a thread on here and as i have never been to it before just wanted to ask some questions about it? i have seen many people pre order animals but will they be selling the animals there aswell?

is it like normal reptile shows were you pay to get in then theres a hall with lots of stalls with people selling animals?

can anyone go to it or do you have to be part of the club?

what sort of inverts are likely to be there if they sell things?

Everyone is welcome to go and I think there has been arangments for advertising it on local radio shows and many other invert forums...so looks like there will be a huge amount of people attending.

The reason for pre-ordering is so you can order yourself and pay for inverts before you arrive - this garunteeing the tarantulas you want...all you need to do is collect.

As far as I'm aware, the event is only insured for inverts. So only inverts will be sold (Pete/poxicator) will be ble to confirm this.

And as this is the first invert show of the year and with so much exposure, many reputable traders have booked tables (including one or two from Germany) this meaning the traders will have a wide range available, including equipment.

hoping to pick up a couple of hissing roaches and then a new T?

but then i dont know how much things are likely to cost?
are spiders cheaper there than usual as i dont know whether to order something from the spider shop now or should i just wait for the show and then it will be cheaper there?

Cheaper would be collecting as you live in ashford. But I suggest getting there in morning and if you see something you want to buy, buy it there and then...otherwise you will end up with nothing.

Pet shops will be cheaper. But that's because they are generally wild caught specimens and males - even though the owner sells them as females.

Specialist shops such as thespidershop charge slighty more, but have more knowledge on tarantulas as a whole, have much more bigger selection and most are captive bred. Aswell as the gender is more higher chance of being correct. (the last thing a standard shop keeper is to wait for a moult and then sell accordingly) they are known to just sell as female as a slightly higher price can be charged...while males are useless after a couple of months of maturing and die within a year or 2.

I am pretty sure thespidershop will be at SEAS, but for a list. I strongly suggest private messaging poxicator for confirmation, or ask for a list of confirmed traders?

Also if your willing to pre-order. Why not check out Martin goss? Home page.htm he is offering 20% discount on every pre-order you make meaning you save money AND are garunteed the tarantulas you have ordered.

I know a lot of Pet Shops now actually buy direct from 'The Spider Shop' using their trade facility.

And I can't talk for all Pet Shops but I know of two decent suppliers local(ish) to myself who are only slightly dearer than the online suppliers. They have access to some fairly rare and uncommon inverts too, one seems to have a consistent supply and access to a lot of the less commonly seen/available Brachypelma spp. such a Klaasi, auratum and boehmei to name a few, where as nobody else even the larger wholesalers are offering them at the sizes I've seen available.

So although many Petshops do give poor advice and are expensive... don't dismiss all of them as you there are some good ones out there who can get some good Livestock with bargains to offer every now and then.

Alan on the Invicta tables will be selling roach colonies as well as selling off his Brachypelma breeding adults, infact his whole collection so that he can concentrate on snakes.
A number of traders have suggested they'll be offering completely new stock.

I 100% agree with you there, but unfortunately these pet shops which do have more stock, and advice are very rare.
