i have been asked by my boss for a new petshop to look into popularity of amphibians. i dont know alot about them really so any replies appreciated. but basically he is thinking of stocking probably some frogs, he has in mind some tree frogs.

anybody have any opioions about this. are they suitable for a pet shop envoroment ([email protected] is closest comparion in layout size etc basically not a small specialised shop), are there other spieces that are worth considering, is there actually many people wanting to keep amphibians to make it worth while supplying them or is it more specalised and people looking for them will normally look at private people rather than pet stores.

if we did decide to stock them what kind of equipment would we have to stock food, equipment. we do already have reptiles so i imagine some equipment will be used for both such as the glass vivariums, heating.

whites tree frogs, Horned frogs and oriental fire bellied toads are pretty hardy and popular so you could stock those and probably sell them with ease.

For anything more specialised people would probably look online (IMO).

Knowing how to look after them would help, so many petshops stock amphibians and just bung everything in together because they think all frogs will live happily together. If your boss is serious he needs to learn a bit about them first rather than just thinking i know ill sell them to make money. If he does know about them then great then easier amphibians like marcus suggested are a good start
