Stupid question about Microclimate AHS

Really, really daft question, but at the moment, I'm using a heat mat, with a random stat. I'm looking to get an AHS, and I'm 95% sure, but they're a totally self contained item yeah? As in, it has a pulse stat & sensor built in to the heater itself?

Thanks, and pardon my stupidity haha! :)
