At present i have coloured wood chips in my vavarium. These are increasingly expensive to buy. I was wondering if i purchased a bulk buy of wood chips from a garden store to use instead. Would this be suitable(its the type that you put in your garden out of b&q, focus, etc), is there any particullar bags of chippings i should look for?. I have 2 adult royal pythons in it they dont seem to like paper or artificial turf. Any help with this matter would be appreciated, thankyou,

If it is the square chips then I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole at all. Even if i didn't feed on them I wouldn't trust them, if you feed on them then they are very dangerous.

Mainly I would use aspen for most snakes, it is pretty safe, easy to spot clean and looks fairly good.
