Im starting to find a few ticks on one of my newly aquired royals i bought from viper and vine in manchester. i pulled two off (following the method in "the complete ball python") and replaced the bedding with news paper after washing the enclosure. ive since found another couple, where will they b coming from as its only after the snake shed that they'v become apparent?
and how can i get rid?
cheers all:

Viper & Vine

Hi, this is Matthew at Viper & Vine. If there is a problem with any animal bought at Viper & Vine, customers are entitled to a replacement or basic treatment. Please give me a call if you are having difficulty. A forum really is no place to be seeking advice as you have no way of knowing with whom you are talking and just what their level of experience is. Please get in touch and we will aid you in any way possible.

Kind Regards,
Matthew Todd Ba(Hons).

Yeah, i figured that bit thanks.

I meant, what is it in?

If your going to quote it like that on a reptile forum you'd expect it to have reptilian uses. I'm allways interested to see what reptile qualifications people have so i know what's available out there.

Yep, he may just be proud of it and like listing it, which would be fair enough - no matter what it is in.

You can't do a reptile degree but you can a zoology, which in certain uni's includes a reptile section, in the last year i believe.

oooo I might start putting 'Ive got two Firsts' under my posts.
As for the 'you dont know what level of experience these people have ' comment...........
most of us know each other personally, or know someone who knows that person, we are quite a close knit community, and we know who to ask.

Probably a degree in Leisure and tourism or hairdressing and nail care.
I could do with a manicure, do I get a discount for being a reptile lover?

I bought five females; one of which turned out to be male, (its amazing how much you trust the people selling you an animal). Three captive farmed and two captive bred, i didnt choose to buy a snake with ticks, as i said the the ticks didnt become apparent until she shed which was a few weeks after i got them.
if anyone has got any advice id be very greatful, as i said iv removed the ones i can see ith tweezers twisting clockwise and pulling. just woundered if there was any treatment?
cheers

To be fair to Matthew he does have alot of experience with reptiles as he has opened several reptile shops in the Uk, runs a breeding operation in the UK aswell as pit viper farm thailand, I go to his shop(which is always spotlessly clean) on a weekly basis and have bought 2 snakes from him in excelent health both feeding. I also had my entire collection checked over by him for free at which point he found out our specialist reptile vet had wrongly sexed my adult boa.
And as shown in his comment he offers free advice and help with any reptile problems you have.
I think that this forum is a bit too close nit and seems to keep outsiders at arms length with sarchastic comments.

Sorry that got a bit side tracked, i would firstly recommend taking them back where I'm sure he will sort your problem, failing that cover the individual ticks in vaseline or alcohol leave for a short time then remove with tweezers.

If Matt has offered to have it back then thats the best plan, these things happen occasionally, particularly in shops as there is such a high turnover of animals from week to week.
Theyre nothing to worry about really, just not the nicest things to find!
