I am looking ot buy a tortoise or two in the near future and wondered if any one new of a good place to purchase them from in or near northamptonshire, there is a local reptile shop which sells them but wondered if it would be better to get them from a local breeder?

it is much cheaper for you to buy from a breeder even if u have to travel to kent or chester it would still be cheaper plus your tort will likely be healthier.

there are a few breeders i know of, follow this link and click on breeders. they charge about 100-125 for a regular tortoise
