Hi i have 2 Royal pythons and a BCI and have noticed on my female royal (adult) and hachling boa that they have flaky skin (after complete sheds) on there undersides:eek:mg: and my male royal doesnt the only difference i can see is the fact that the two with flaky skin are on reptibark and my male is on newspaper.

So just wondered what people are using as substrate and if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks

Dan

I use aspen for my Royal and Carpet. Never had a problem with it and they both always shed perfectly.

boas prefer higher humidity, so bark is beter in my opinion as it holds humidity better - you can ass some sphagnum moss in with it as that holds water well too

Alex
but after a couple of days the moisture in the bark is gone i find a nice sized water bowl keeps the humidity up without a damp underside

I use aspen for the royals and corns

I use Forest bed for the other snakes as it holds the moisture well...
