I've always known that most snakes will clear up before a molt after eyes blue and body dulls. However I was wondering if anyone here knows the science behind why/how this happens. It would seem the eyes would turn even more cloudy the looser the scale gets from the eye. Same with the body.

When they shed the snake releases a fluid that seperates the old layer from the new that’s what makes the eyes appear cloudy. When the fluid has gone the eyes and skin return to normal and the snake is ready to shed.
