Hello Dear Reptile Lovers,

It's been such a long time since I've posted on this forum,

One of my male geckos have been having trouble shedding, so my local reptile shop (who are amazingly helpful and good to me) told me to to buy some Coco Fibre for the moist hides as it helps them shed a lot better, So I went on amazon and the reviews for this was awesome, so I brought it.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coconut-Re...ttes/dp/B00JPLN6NI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466342740&sr=8-1&keywords=Coco+Fibre

My question is, How long do I have to wait to clean it out and put new coco fibre in? and does it go moldy?

Thanks in advance for the help guys :)
Much love,
R and S.

Thanks buddy :) very helpful

The never ending debate of the moist hide location aha,

I had my moist hides on the hot side for months, and noticed the shedding wasn't being as successful as it was on the cold side, so I now have all my moist hides on the cold side. :)

You're very welcome.

Ah that is fair enough in that case regarding the moist hide, if they will use it over there for shedding alone that's perfectly suitable.

What I find is that all my Leos like many others tend to prefer to sleep inside their moist hides over any others, that would be a danger if they were located on the cool side as obviously cold and damp is the perfect conditions for respiratory infections. I think, generally speaking, because it is such a common behavior that's why the default location should be warm for such hides and can be changed, just as you have, to suit a particular situation.

Yeah, all of my leos used to sleep in the moist hide on the hot end, but since swapping hides around, they sleep in the cave on the hot end now, I think mine just loved the heat aha, If I find they are still sleeping in the moist hide when I put the coco fibre in, what should I do?
