Hello! I have a crested gecko (male, about 2.5 years old). He's always been super mellow, hardly even jumps. I hand feed him about every other day because he doesn't seem to eat otherwise. He's been hiding behind his background for a few days, which he's done before but always seems to be able to get out so I don't think he was stuck. I tried to get him out to feed him since it had been a few days since I'd seen him (maximum of three), and he went absolutely insane. He jumped at me and out of his enclosure, scampering under my bed. He wagged his tail when I went to reach for him, which I know is a stress/defense mechanism that he'd never done before. I had to chase him around my room for like an hour before I was able to get him into a plastic pitcher and back into his tank. Honestly, I'm surprised he didn't drop his tail. He wasn't even fired up! But it was stressful for me, and I imagine it was stressful for him too. Is there any reason he would be acting like this?
(He's in a 18x18x24 exo terra, kept at 70% humidity and I keep a ceramic heat emitter on for him at night. Nothing about his husbandry has changed in the past while.)
