i am going to get a hognose snake in about a weeks time and i will probably need to feed it 2 days after,i have already reserved the snake,i have read about feeding them frozen and thawed frogs,is this okay as a staple?instead of mice,my family does not like mice so they were asking me what else i could feed it,if its not possible i can get mice from my friend who leaves not far away

Apparently, their natural diets are primarily made up of frogs, toads, newts, some fish, small lizards, eggs and small birds - the other 35% of their diets is made up of small rodents. They do just fine on rodent-based diets in captivity in most cases, so I don't think you'll get away with not having mice in the house I'm afraid.

Have you actually found somewhere that sells frozen frogs then?

How much research have you actually done? Because if you had done any you would know that they happily take rodents ie mice. It's difficult to say much more as being an "egg" your location doesn't show. If you are in the UK, you will only be able to readily get hold of western Hognoses. Very, very rarely, Mexicans can be found. Having kept and bred both (I was the first person I the UK to breed Mexican hogs), they will take mice.
Tri coloured hogs should also take mice. That leaves eastern and southern hogs, if you are in Germany or the US, as they appear unavailable anywhere else. Again, as cb animals, these still readily take mice.
Naturally, they are mainly toad eaters (not frog), but cb specimens, once the breeder gets them going, take mice and never look back.

Omg why do people not get me,i have spent many hours on researching about snakes.i have a source for feeder rodents,i was just asking if they could be fed on a diet of frogs as a staple instead of mice as i know their natural diet is made up of mostly of amphibians and etc.so please read carefully and dont assume that i am a freaking kid who goes to a pet store wanting a pet without knowing anything about it

Couple of points to consider. Firstly this is RFUK and if you take offense easily dont come on here...I learnt that the hard way.
Secondly, you have to give the snake a week settling in period after you get him. Hoggies are shy creatures so they definitely need to settle.
Thirdly, hognoses can be difficult feeders especially this time of year, many of them brumate including mine...hes only feeding once every 2 weeks or so now, Im going to have to think about dropping his temps at some point.
Fourthly, Its not that common to use frozen amphibians as a food source although I have known of people using frogs legs over mice to get the smell when they have had feeding problems. I dont even know of anyone who sells frozen amphibians although that dosnt mean they are not out there.
Thats why you are being questioned.
I know I will get shouted down but I think hoggies are quite tricky snakes to keep. They feed more often than most, they brumate which is a hassle, they are very prone to threat posturing which can be off putting for a novice snake owner. Saying that they are real characters who come out during the day.(well maybe not in winter months)

First of all :2thumb: for getting a hoggie!
They can be tricky eaters, and from my own personal experience mine went through a right annoying stage, i had to dip his mice in egg white to get the little sod to eat, so if you can get frozen frogs ( i too thought they would help mine eat, and you can get frogs legs from a chinese supermarket) but couldnt get through to buy them....... keep them just for scenting, if he goes off food, might get him to chomp down again

I cant say anything about the 'typical' huffy hoggie, mine thinks he is a corn snake lol

haha, finally someone understands me i can buy a kg of frozen frogs for around 7 pounds,in that case i will buy the frogs because i have an asian arowana i can feed it to,i'll use it as a treat food for the hognose.btw he is eating well at the pet store and hasnt refused a meal there so i dont think there will be a feeding problem

Threat posturing does not put me off at all, i had close encounters with larger snakes that tried to strike at me. Ok, being questioned thats understandable, i live in south east asia and many people including me keep arowanas, arowanas eat frogs, so supply and demand, people want them so people sell them, hope you understand, i apologise for kicking up a fuss earlier on
