The iguanid family is a very large group of lizards and there are a few smaller veg eating lizards in that family :) chuckwallas, desert iggys etc, on the other hand you could always consider a tortoise?

My advice would be to find one of those lizards that really attract you, research their needs because it isn't a simple case of just feeding "any old veg and some foods are hard to come by and find"" and locate and aquire one, this would be much better for you and probibly the lizard because you have a keen interest in keeping it, rather than just keeping any old veg eating lizard for the hell of it, just because it is a convenience if that makes sense.

P.s I would be feeding a crested gecko an omnivore diet, not simply because they will snatch up the odd insect, but it gives them some enrichment too (hunting, catching etc) but thats just me good luck..:2thumb:

The dry food diets pish posh! "waves away"
Nutrition is a fundamentally complex topic, still is not fully understood and researched in people let alone animals, so how on earth can these people formulate "complete diets to meet all their nutritonal needs? when we haven't even scraped the surface of nutritional needs for some of these animals? the way of thinking could change at just about any moment, what is right today could be completely wrong tomorrow.

Not to mention many contain traces of animal protein which are completely unsuitible for veg eating lizards, and then on top of that where these products are manufactured there are absaloutely no laws regulating exacly what goes into them? so there is no way to know for sure. Those who have succesfully fed it long term often have not had their animals checked regularly for blood tests so there is no known information on these complete food formulas, those foods have question marks all over them, they are okay to keep on hand for an emergency but other than that I would avoid them.:2thumb:

uromastyx and desert iggies are veggies, iv got 5 uros and 2 iggies and they are all great. the uros vary in size and colour depending on which species you go for. the egyptians are the biggest and can get to over 2 foot. they are both easy species to look after and to keep on cheap food too cause you can grow most of it.

Ah of course! I completely forgot Desert Iggies! Had a pair in a shop I used to work at, they were absolute sweeties! Would always come running over to me whenever I went near them, and would happily jump up onto my arm for a quick cuddle! Would certainly keep them in the future myself :)

You could have a Blue tounge skink. They eat a mix of meat, Veg, Fruit and Insects. But they will be very happy to eat canned insects, So not live.

Here's some avalible types.
