PVC enclosure brands

Hi everyone :)

I'm debating between 3 different companies that make PVC enclosures in the UK. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? I'm eventually needing some large enclosures too, potentially 8ft x 3ft x 3ft.

I've been interested in:
  • Herpxotics (leaning towards this one so far)
  • Viper Vivs
  • Viperia

But feel free to let me know about anyone else who is good for this.

Thanks!
- Matt

Would you say herpxotics PVC enclosures are strong enough for somewhat heavy decor? My middle tank will have a pool of 30 litres water and oak branches in all enclosures. They definitely seem like the right company to go with so far. This is my current set up btw.

Thanks!

I ordered a pvc Viv from viperia on June 20th and I'm still waiting on it being delivered, granted I did change the Viv dimensions but this was before any work was done on it and was charged another £53 for new glass and specialist courier even though there was a shipping option for half the price of the £70 overall charge I was charged for the specialist courier

I stressed that I must have it by the 20th August as that's when my animal is arriving and so far it's not been shipped yet

I spoke to Jon who I think owns and runs it and he said he was trying to get a courier for the start of next week but honestly if by some miracle I do get it by Tuesday I won't have time to seal it and will have to do it at a later date and if it doesn't arrive I don't know what I'm going to do

Makes it more the maddening that I emailed them before placing the order for what kind of time frame I was looking at and was told 4 weeks it's now been 9

Not dissing them in anyway just sharing my experience and you can do with it what you want

Hi Rufus,

Hmm okay interesting, doesn't sound fantastic. I'm definitely still leaning towards Herpxotics so far. Thank you very much for sharing!

As for your dilemma, I don't know what animal you are expecting or the size, but might I suggest a RUB? (Really Useful Box) You can even fit a radiant heat panel or heat lamp to these with some DIY tricks. For example a 64L or 145L box works well. I've done both.

That's great thanks for the pics 👍
Ahh okay that's nothing crazy no. I would suggest doing RUBs still if you haven't already considered. I've never had ackies so I can't give super specific advice but I've had baby boas in them. I'll put photo examples for you of my deep heat projector ones.

I think I will have to rig something like this for the first couple of days and will give me chance to seal the Viv when it eventually arrives

So long story short everyone. I can't do PVC cos I'd need timber framework or it would all start to bow eventually. So I'll be sticking to melamine coated wood vivs with a DIY PVC-U liner as a base.

Herpxotics were very helpful and honest with me about it, I would still recommend them the most for PVC enclosures so far.

So the saga continues
Just received an email to say my Viv is ready for shipping but the courier won't be coming up to Scotland for another 3 weeks 🤣

There now trying to find another courier hopefully UPS which was originally the £35 delivery charge I opted for in the first place before I was sent another email saying the shipping had doubled to £70 and I need to pay the difference plus the extra glass I needed to pay for as I changed the dimensions

Honestly I wouldn't recommend Viperia to anyone and I certainly won't be purchasing anything else from them

So we will see what transpires from here

May have something to do with they are very busy and if you changed dimensions and glass had been ordered! thats your fault buddy! wy should viperia pay for the correct size glass? they order glass straight away because glass takes 3 weeks or longer to arrive!

and shipping is not cheap on something that size!! they use greens courier who picked up 2 smallish lizards from scotland for my friend who lives in westmidlands and cost was £90 so £70 on a large vivarium is very reasonable imo!

It's been shipped with ups and I should receive in the morning

ups was the original courier I paid for before I was charged an extra £35 so we will see if I get that back ,

Believe it or not I'm not going to be able to use it for the ackies at present as has been said in this thread and I hadn't thought about is I'm planning bio active and using around 150l of substrate and the pvc won't take it so I've purchased a 6x2x2 wooden Viv and I'm thinking of putting the pvc Viv on eBay or I may keep it for one of my SD retics

Been a nightmare from start to finish

Oh jeez 😅 I think it needs to be more widely known that PVC needs extra support when it's stacked with other enclosures and heavy decor. I'm glad I researched before wasting all my savings. Herpxotics we very honest with me about it, I had no idea before I asked. Everyone just says PVC > wood.

I'm glad you've at least got a solution now. I'm planning on lining the base of my wood vivs with 2mm PVC-U sheets and silicone sealant. Just in case you need any ideas for waterproofing them.

At least you have a foot more length with that one! Hope it goes well, post some pics of the ackies! :)

Have you got something to do with Viperia buddy ?
You seem very defensive for someone with no skin in the game

I didn't object to paying for the glass as I changed the dimensions and that was expected what I do object to is the fact that on the product page for that size vivarium there is 2 shipping options
UPS £35 specialist courier £70 I opted for the ups option and payed for the vivarium and shipping then received an email 9 weeks later to say the shipping had doubled to £65
That's what I object too after I had paid for the relevant shipping

So get your facts right before jumping in a thread that you have no relevant input in
