My 6 month old Caramel carpet is in a 9l RUB and even she is starting to outgrow it, don't know much about royals but you may need something bigger fairly soon.

I use 64ltr RUBs for everything from hatchlings to yearlings to sub adults (adults go in vivs).

I had a 1 year old 220gram non feeder come to me in a 9ltr RUB. Even she went into a 64ltr and started feeding 5 weeks later.

I reckon you could get away with a 9 ltr until about 250-300 grams and about 18inch in length though, but I'm of the school of thought that bigger is better, but coverage is king.

To give you an idea, this is my royal, under 200g, in a 9l RUB. (he normally has 2 hides in there and ignore the poo, I cleaned that up after!)

As you can see, he's got room but I feel he is easily ready for the next size up but many would stick with that size for much longer.

I move them in 33l as I feel the floor space is more important than the height when they are small :)

Thank you for posting that picture Louise. I haven't really seen how a young royal looks in a 9L RUB, so your picture has given me a good idea now of the size. I'll order 2 33L RUBs then so I already have them if I do feel they need to be in bigger ones.

Get 50l rubs and put them straight in with plenty of hides instead.

You're snakes get more room and you don't have to buy multiple tubs, everyone wins!

9l rubs are for squeezing more snakes into a small space, there is nothing wrong with that, but why put a snake into a tiny box where it cant really move much when you don't have to?

My 2012 boy is in a 21 ltr rub at the moment and is about 200g. He's an avid explorer and will be going into a 3 foot viv when i upgrade him. Hes eaten every meal ever offered and has plenty of plants etc in his rub to feel secure so i have no concerns about putting him in a 3 foot....he's out a lot during the day and even more so at night so i know he will really appreciate the extra space : victory:

Do you guys think a really well packed out 50L would be alright then? As you can tell I want it all to be spot on ready for them so they're happy and healthy. If I put 2 hides on each side, water bowl, a few toilet tubes, loads of plants should be ok shouldn't it?
