What in your opinion is the stupidest species of snake?

My vote goes to my tricolour hognose, he constantly misses his food when I dangle it in front of him even when its touching his nose, has bitten himself several times during feeding (compared to once in 7 years for my western hog) and has tried to munch on the wall of his tub when he missed.

Has to be royals. They constantly starve themselves and like your hognose constantly miss their food when striking. One of mine missed the mouse latched onto my thumb and coiled around my wrist, took ages to let go even after putting his head under running water. Boy did that hurt those little teeth are razor sharp. One of my best feeders also missed the rat, caught her own tail and thought it a good idea to not to let go of it without some persuasion .

Meet Stimpy (Antaresia stimsoni orientalis NT locale).

She is very trigger happy and frequently strikes at movement, including me, objects and other snakes, although is a gentle thing once she has realised it’s not feeding time, and is calm during any handling.

Often during feeding time, she forgets a meal, or ‘loses it’ and wanders off.
When she was younger, I actually removed decor to make it easier for her to swallow a meal. Perhaps there is an issue with her co-ordination or sensory-cognitive processing of information…………

She might be broken 😂😂🤭🤔

Nevertheless, she is fun to keep😁

Stimpy, that does not look comfortable:

Here she is snuggling with Ren. Fortunately he is much more switched on, and not disposed to becoming distracted during meal times.

I dont think any one species is thicker than another.
There are plenty of individuals who are absolutely retarded but in terms of a particular species? No
If I had to suggest one, western hognoses. Almost all of mine ate their food the same, arse end first, or grab in the middle and just swallow, bending the mouse in half! My Mexican hogs, however were far more refined and always fed the "proper way", head first.
