Hello ladies & gents long time no type :Na_Na_Na_Na: so i went to feed my little male map this morning and he was on the bottom of his tank walking around in backward circles i watched him for a few minutes and he continued. So i sat and watched to see if it was just a thing he was doing in the end ive been watching him for 9 hours and hes doing it continuously as well as trying to rip his claws off his left hand (thats what it looks like). I have no idea what he is doing he usually lives on his basking dock but he hasnt been on all day i have ramped his temps up high as i when i googled it said it may be a sign of a RI does anyone have any idea on what this could be and what could be causing it? i cant get a vet appointment until tuesday and thats classed as an emergency

Welcome back.

Just to re-cap, is he housed on his own?
hello lovely thanking you and he most certainly is hes been totally fine and hes been gaining confidence rather than being skittish hes been basking when im present etc apart from today hes gone back to skittish and hes just constantly walking around in circles at the bottom of the tank he comes up for a breath resting on a plant then goes back down

Clutching at straws a bit here as we've fortunately not had to deal with an RI, but could he see/sense the others. Just wondering if he is a maturing male hence the apparent claw pulling, although is it more a fanning action with the two front legs/claws?

no i doubt it my two girls live in another room when he was housed with Mrs Bones he pestered her with the claw fanning so that's why i separated them hes been separated over a year now ive got no idea what is going on with him hes never done it before. It has been cold here the past few days but i wouldnt think cold enough to cause him any distress or illness but the backward circles are distressing to watch id hate to think of him being in any distress or pain in anyway

Ok so today is day 2 ive tried to upload a video but photobucket is being a tool. I posted a video on instagram and ive had things suggested like RI, Neurological, A new thing hes learned :gasp: ..

he has ate 3 pellets today,
he has done a little basking both of these he didnt yesterday,
hes just walking around in a circle and then walks around backwards in a circle,
there are no signs of injury, no wheezing, no bubbles, no other symptons, no trauma, i betadined his paw he keeps trying to bite just incase he had a an invisible injury but he didnt flinch or anything its so very odd

could this just be a new thing he has learned the backwards thing? or is it going to be serious? i cant get him to the vet until tuesday and this worrying is gonna be the death of me lol
