Ahaetulla nasuta? or prasina?

I've heard nasuta can be very difficult. I have also heard and seen them feed readily on live fish. Whats peoples opinions of the fish as staple prey?

Prasina seem to take rodents more readily though still tempramental :)

it is NOT a good idea to try to get these animals to take rodents as a staple. The stress will kill them if nothing else - due to fat and nutrition content they will not live long even if they do take a diet of rodents (and believe me thats a big IF.)

I kept prasina - it was stress that killed them in the end, and you wouldnt believe the levels i went to to keep them stress -free. Just wasnt good enough.

You can feed them on live fish as well as live geckos but they dont really take fish as well and it is not enough to be a staple.

Honestly - they are not worth keeping, beautiful animals just not an ideal pet in the slightest.

No worries mate...i think alot of the time its more to do with stress levels...remember alot of people keep there animals in rooms they use alot....but the ones that dont will have less human traffic so less stress to the snake...and also remember it depends on where you get them from.
Shop brought vines comes from a wholesaler, the wholesaler keeps them until there new orderlist is made so its prolonged stress. whereas fresh caught ones in captivity will ultimately be the best buy

i really wouldnt advise it huni - they honestly arent worth it. maybe look into oxybelis rather than ahaetulla - these should be easier to keep.

I fed my ahaetulla live house geckos and anoles. As i said - mine died from stress (dispite being kept in a perfect setup, in the quietest spot in the house) and i really would never advise anyone keep them as a pet.

Guppies are South American...quite possibly good for Oxybelis.....

..I know the Monterry Bay Aquarium in the States 'maintain' a large collection of prasina that are fed of live guppies (they have a large pool below their branches and you can see them hunt and strike for the fish from their perches....)..I don't know if they get anything else though (or TBF if they just restock the adults regularly:whistling2:) ...

...might be worth looking at sympatric fish species as well as gecko species for the Ahaetulla sp...
