boa puffing up, and forcing air out....

since i bought her, over a year ago when ever i hold her she puffs up with air and lets it out in one big puff...

i have not been worried about this as when ever i put her down on the floor or back in her viv she goes back to normal, she will be fine for the first 10-15 minutes of holding and then just start to "puff up"

its very odd, i hope someone can explane this to me because i am puzzled........does this mean, "i have had enough put me down" or is it something else?

before you ask, there is no mouth gaping, mucus, holding head up....temps are fine, humidity is in the recomended range but she does have trouble shedding every now and again

i don't hold her that often, maybe once a week or some times longer, and she was doing it tonight more than normal while i was helping her get the last bit of shed off her tail. its not a hiss, its a puff like a sigh

thanks

my boa does this i you pee her off while in shed or spend to long trying to faff around with her in her viv. my burm does it everytime i go to the viv till i take her out then shes fine, sometimes she forgets im holding her, hisses then remembers again. id hold her till she stops unless she starts striking but i imagine its when shes feeling threatned/stressed. does it happen when your alone or other people in the room as my burm hisses at new people int he room when being handled.

either way i wouldnt worry :)

id doesnt matter if there are other people in the room or not, its almost as if she is telling me that she has had enough and wants to go home. i dont hold her very often maybe this could be the problem?

thanks for your input bud :)

no probs, it may well be the prob. either way tho as long as she isnt striking at you id just try to read her.

my burm has got no better or worse when trying to get her out her viv with hissing, it just might be "how she is" id just be thankfull she lets you hold her.

i have found hissing back works sometimes
