Hey

Just want some quick advice.

I've had my crested gecko for about a year and a half now everything fine and dandy. I recently (3 weeks ago about) moved him into a bigger 45x45x60 exo terra from a 30x30x45. But the past week he's been acting weird, like he sits in his plants and he hasn't came out for like a week, when I went to see him a bit ago he made a squeaky noise at me.

I was just wondering what could be wrong? The first few weeks in his new terrarium he was out and about and fine so I don't think its because i've moved him. I also got a new snake about a month ago and their kept in the same room, but again they have been in the same room for 3 odd weeks no problem so I didn't think it would be that.

Any suggestions on what to do?? He hasnt eaten all week either.

Thanks for any replies

if there is a lot of plants in there you might not really be able to tell if he is eating properly or not, so i would really opt for taking him out and putting him in a tub and feeding him in there to see if he is eating properly or not. try weighing him too, if you have any scales and keep checking his weight to see if it's rising or dropping. if he's still gaining weight and doesn't look unhealthy you don't have much to worry about. we have a lot of cresties and some do stay in the same places during the day so it looks like they never move. but with them being nocturnal as soon as the lights go out they're hopping all over the place.

also, try giving him water from a bottle with a tube on it, and drip it on his nose and he should take water from you. just make sure you keep an eye on him and if you ever wake up in the middle of the night just shine a torch into the viv and see if he has moved. some of ours don't usually get up and start moving 'till about 3am :/

if you need anything else feel free to message us with any other questions! :)

regards,
lee.

It sounds like something is stressing the little fella out. Might be worth putting the snake out of sight of the gecko (if it is in sight that is). Aroma's can do it to, so try and get a lot of fresh air through to give the room a natural and neutral smell. Also try and keep the room nice a quiet for a few days.

Personally, I would thin out the plants that are in the tank. Open up more space, less places for it to hide up. Of course leave enough in their so can crawl up during the day, maybe 2 plants and a few branches. Take out hides as well. Crested gecko's can hide up, and literally starve to death so best to avoid that one straight off.

Add a touch of fruit (half puree, half water) and honey (very small amount) to the food assuming your feeding CGD, this might tempt him to eat. Get some vitamin drops in the water your spray and put kitchen Tissue down as the substrate.

Just keep an eye on it, and try and get it feeding again. Keep checking for poo and hopefully things will get better. Monitor him very closely though, if it looks like his condition is deteriorating and is becoming ill consult a vet. Don't be afraid to weigh it

Hope things get better with him : victory:
