Ive got a willow tree in my garden and cut a few sections down the other day to trim it, rather than putting these to waste I thought id strip the bark off them then wait for them to dry out and one they have they can be cut to size ready to be put nicely into the vivs.
Although when i looked up online I saw way to many mixed opinions on people saying you both can and can't use it but I couldnt reach a verdict so i thought Id try here..so can i use willow tree wood in my snake vivs?
Thanks
Kaine

Yeah thats what I thought although I read somewhere else that it can be poisonous if ingested but the snakes obviously wont be eating this but could it harm there skin or cause any irritations?

Willow is a hard wood, so you're cool to use it.

Nice wood too, you should make yourself a cricket bat or a guitar body or something? :2thumb:
Yeah i hope to be able to Ive got pleantly to be able to kit out a few vivs with it and Ive already taken the bark of so its silky smooottthhh.
Atleast it'd give me an excuse to learn the guitar!;D

the "aspirin" type compound is actually found mostly in the bark of branches of 1-2yrs growth, needs to be dried to bring out the full potency. Willow is often used for birds, particularly lovebird species, they chew it up to make their nests and the aspirin also helps for birds under the weather so there should be no issues using it for reps, especially since they can't chew it. Pine type tree's are the ones to avoid with reptiles
