What is the minimum and safe distance for a arcadia t5 d3+ uvb? Thanks alot.

hi it all depends on the species for which the photogradient is being set!

but the animal shouldnt be forced to spend long times under these high power lamps at closer than 10cms. this is only becasue the index at this distance and closer is higher than can be found in wild ranges. We must seek to re-create the wild and not differ from this.

They have an effective gradient to a meter .

Your animal will be more than able to self regaulte throuout the encousre and should have an upper level basking zone maybe 12" under the lamp dropping off into cool and shade. This is self regulation.

hope that this helps

yes it looks fine, but you do need the right reflector, it will get all that wasted light down onto the dragon and if you fit it right reduce all that glare.

Its a bearded dragon. I just got him a new 4ft viv, so in the process of setting it up.

This is him at his highest point in the viv, he climbs up there to rest under the uvb.

Does this seem ok?

He looks grumpy lol ;)

My beardy doesnt seem to move far from the basking shelf other than to perhpas go under the rock it sits on so think I am always about 10-12" away from the tube (with reflector)

Given statement above I am also wondering if I need to increase this distance...

From the pic - whats the distance to his back as is this not where you want to be aiming for that 10-12" measurement?

haha he is alittle grump sometimes! Just finshed about 50 calciworms before the pic!

I would be worried a reflector would overpower the viv as its only 21" in height, he seems to love the uvb though. He came with a reptiglo 10.0 which was over a year old, so finally can get his fill!

still trying to fine tune the viv, for temps and so on.

Does anyone know a safe glue etc that can be used for hanging artifical plants?

honestly get the reflector you are only getting about a third of the lamps power without.

lamps are cyliders by design and light is emitted all the way round the lamp. so the light coming out of the top and sides is simply wasted.
