Mine always bite!

I don't pick them up much at the moment. Being bitten isn't great, but it's not what puts me off. It obviously frightens and stresses the animals, so I minimise contact. Once they are fully grown, I may see if I can tame them, but if not, it's not the end of the World. I got them because they are not leopard geckos (not that there's anything wrong with them, either!).

That's barely a scratch :lol2: I got nabbed by a ferret worse than that! Blasted thing actually sent me into shock!

My beardie bit me when she was eating her veg! It'll teach me not to get in the way during mealtime!

Ben had never been bitten so we decided it called for a game of "Tokay Roulette". Basically I wanted to show him that their bite isn't as bad as most people make out. We started with a couple of young olive females who locked on for a considerable amount of time. Then moved on to a larger female of about 9 months who also decided to lock on. I'd already been bitten in a nice "soft spot" by an adult female earlier in the evening so we skipped that stage and went for a full blown adult male (Big Nick).

I went first and ended up with a Tag and Ben bravely went and offered up a finger (his face was a picture). Big nick went easy on him and he got off lightly but learned that Tokays aren't as nasty as people make out.

I always recommend offering up a knuckle for any Tokay keeper. It's important to know what you're up against to get rid of that fear factor in keeping them and a nice first step before proceeding to tame them.

First of all, I still have not been bitten by my own tokays. I thought I would use the opportunity when visiting Tom to let myself get bitten and see how bad it really is.

Yeah the younglings and the female were not that bad, about the same as my palm when he licked on when he was a juvie. But big nick! My goodness me, yes my face was a right picture! haha Mostly due to the unexpected, I knew they bark is worse than their bite, but still when you are putting your hand near those jaws! However after that, now I know its not that bad really. I highly recommend doing the same, aslong as your tokay is nice and healthy and very well settled. There is no point owning something you are scared of going near, and Tom told me its like and injection, short sharp pain but over quickly and it was!

Anyways, here is the aftermark scar! I do think I got away lightly :whistling2:
