My Hermann's Tortoise Won't Stop Biting Shoes/Feet

Hi,

So I have a Hermann's tortoise that is roughly 5 years old, and he has gotten into the habit of going after shoes and feet - he bites my dogs feet, my dad's, everyones'.

It doesn't hurt, but it really pisses off my family, so I was wondering if there was any way to "train" him or make him stop? I think it does have something to with agression and maybe even him wanting to mate, but he gets even more agressive when you move the shoe away and comes after the person who removed it!

It's kinda funny, but again my family has started becoming real annoyed. Any advice on this subject would help; it is getting bad :|

Oh yeah, I'm in California, so I definitely take him out a lot, but we don't have an outdoor cage. That last reply from me was more of his general schedule. I need help with his agression though

Well you can't train him. I imagine he is getting stressed and wants to get out into the sunshine and not be shut in indoors.

Get building a safe enclosure where he can be outdoors in natural sunshine, providing water and obviously shade.

To be honest, he seems quite fine indoors, he does little tortoise yoga poses as I like to call them; what I'm saying is he goes out this time of year, he isn't trapped. He just really likes shoes, and I know I cannot train him like a dog, but can I somehow help the agression? It might be because of sexual maturity based on what I've read; idk

Yea he has a UV lamp and a heat lamp, water and he actually instead of a log nestles in timothy hay, it's cute. He eats a wide range of food as well, all safe of course (no iceburg lettuce, etc.).
