her eyes went cloudy today and I know shes about to shed: victory: . How long would it be from now ? I've ramped up the humidity levels in the viv, and I'll get something to mist her with too, is there anything else I need to do ?

Also, is there any way to tell shes about to shed other then wait for the cloudy eyes ? And finally am I right in thinking she'll shed once every six weeks? Finally, she refused food 2 days ago so Im assuming that it was due to her about to shed? How soon after the shed can I try and feed her again.

Thank you

Hey hun, my little anery's (i know its a colubrid but just for comparison) eyes clouded over...cleared the day after then he shed the following evening. Although i've known some peoples snakes to take a week from the eyes clearing (after the clouding up)

Probably refused the food due to the shed yeah. I feed mine after a shed as they're usually ravenous or at least act it..hunting behaviour lol.

Other than what you're doing i'd just ask have you got lots of things for her to rub on in the viv, just to help her shed a little?

can take easily upto a week after eyes go cloudy. they will go back to normal and she will shed after that. sounds like your doing everything right though mate so dont worry and yes she prob refused coz of shed.
They will shed more or less compared with the amount of food they eat

dont panik if it takes a little longer though coz your doing everything right by the sounds of things. My stripe tail took a week and half recently, didnt think she was gonna bloody ever get round to doing it

They shed depending on how fast they're growing. My boa is 2 years old and still sheds every month. As they get to their fully grown size they only shed a few times a year unless they're getting really fat. ;)

As others have said avoid handling your boa until after the shed. The eye caps over their eyes make their eyesight even worse than usual and they feel very vulnerable so may strike out if you handle them. Also I think I read their skin is itchy which makes them irritable but I don't know if that's true.

cool thanks for the advice. she was a bit jumpy when i opened the viv today so I was being extra careful :)

Was defrosting a rodent for her then noticed the cloudy eyes. Are they grumpy even after the eyes clear up ? So best not to handle her till shes shed? Its all very exciting seeing her cloudy eyes.

:lol2:

Thanks :)

Yes as they can't see they can be a little scared and see everything as a potential threat so may lash out. It's a stressful time for them.

Yeah thats def the best time to take pics, but i do tend to give mine a couple of days before handling just to make sure they`re not still a bit sensitive as my carpet usually is after a shed. Be gr8 to see the new pics when they get posted.:no1:
