DON'T EAT THAT!!!

My beardie just ate a wasp, I know lightning bugs are poisonous but will the wasp hurt him. It didn't sting him, I'm just worried it could cause problems.

Wasps can cause problems. You need to watch for swelling of the tongue, wheezing or coughing, and a blackbeard. If you see any of these symptoms go to the vet asap. Since it's Sunday, you may want to call around and see what vets are open just in case you do need to take him. This is the third post I've seen like this in a couple days and the other 2 turned out fine, so hopefully yours will too!

Thanks, I'll be sure to keep an eye on him. I don't think it stung him, are these symptoms of a sting or do they occur after ingestion?

I think either.

From what I gather, this happens quite often, with no ill effects. BUT there is the risk of that wild wasp carrying something not nice, like parasites or bugs. Maybe ring your vet, just to be on the safe side! he may get the runs or something. I dont know much about beardies, but would always reccomend a vet if your unsure!

Time someone invented a muzzle for beardies that are out and about, stop them eating all the random bits and bobs they find :)
Shouldn't think it would be a problem, the other forum seemed to come across as though the swelling may be a cause of a sting. The black beard can come at any time anyway, so i'd keep an eye out for swelling really, and given that the wasp was most likely chomped before it knew what was happening, it's likely that everything will be just fine.
As said though, see if there is a vets nearby that you can take the beardie to just in case anything does begin to flare up :)

If there were going to be any ill effects, I'd expect them to have already occurred.

Most likely it was chomped the second it reached his mouth and that was that, a nice bit of free range dinner :)

I certainly wouldn't worry about wild wasps being carriers of dangerous parasites though!:2thumb:
