Evening all

Just got home from weekend away and checked on my little ackie. He seems to have an inflammed bum. I dont know the best way to explain it. i
Its sort of swolen outwards and you can see the 2 spurs either side of it. Also when i went to pick him up it seemed to be weaping a bit. Not sure if that was through stress of me trying to handle him as he is still a bit jumpy

I have tried to take some photos, but being a mobile and so close they havent turned out that well.

The set up.
4ftx2ftx2ft.
Spot lamp and UV lamp.
Temperatures are what they should be.
He is eating fine
We got him at the beginning of february and is about 5 months old.

These are the photos i did manage to take. Any ideas from anyone. Is this a trip to the vet in the morning or am i worrying for no reason

Looks like a vet job looks like an abscess to me mate.

Thanks for the super quick reply. Was worried someone would say something like that as thats what it looked like to me.

I have a vets next door, not sure if they deal with reptiles yet as never needed it.

Thanks again for the quick reply

Out of interest, is there anything that would have caused an this?

Usually an infection entering through a small break in the skin...

Lots of things could have caused the inital wound.

Bumping before i go. Appointment booked for 0920hours tomorrow as today they were booked up.

I have had another look today and initally i could see the same as i did yesterday although not as bad and then on closer inspection the "abcess" seemed to retract and i couldnt even seen the spurs. Not that great with the lizard anatomey as this is my first one.

Im sure the vet will be able to tell me if everything is fine tomorrow.

Well Amigo is at the vets now. apparently the "abcess" was him prolapsing probably caused by a gut infection. He is going to have a suture put in under sedation and then some antibiotics. He is free to go home later today (im working so will pick him up tomorrow morning).

All in all ÂŁ40 - ÂŁ50 all in.

On this note im going to advertise the vets as i know lots of people post "is there a reptile vets near me" type of posts.
Reptile Vet, Animal Vet, Veterinary services in Maidstone, Kent

More updates to follow.

Thanks to those people who posted and gave ideas as what could be the problem

Well he is home again now. He has two stiches in his bum to stop him prolapsing, and has been given some meds for the gut problem that the vet seems to think was causing the prolapse. Has to go abck in a week to have stiches removed and another course of meds.

First thing he did once back in his viv was get some heat, then have a good drink (thought he fell asleep drinking at one point) then attack the nearest locust he could find. Now he has gone to his hiding spot under a branch and is resting.

total cost ÂŁ41 (was expecting alot alot alot worse)

Hes may little buddy. Have grown attached to him, so didnt want him in any pain. Im glad he is getting better aswell. I think he went through about 3 locusts in 30mins of being home.

Ok, so he went back tooday for the final set of meds and stiches to be removed. By today the stiches had already come out so it was just the meds. I went to the vets and it turns out he had a severe case of pinworm (seen by fecal sample) so he has now been wormed and going back again for treatment in 2 weeks time. Amazing vet as he hasnt charged me anything since the consultation and the sedation with the intial meds. He will be back to health soon.

p.s he is eating loads and oads and wouldnt havethought anything was wrong with him, gets through about 5 locusts a day. I dont know where he puts them lol
