we got our kids a pet hamster today and was wondering does anyone else have snakes and hamsters or other rodents in the same room and if it has any effect on there snakes, will my snakes be able to smell the hamster and be in feeding mode all the time or will they not be bothered by it?

i had to adult rats in my snake room for aday, out of sight, and they were all on the hunt for them!..lol

i had all my rack being nudged open as they could smell the rats, i removed them as it was not worth them staying in the room..

persoanly i dont think its worth any sort of risk, its best to keep seperate, you never know if the hampster could feel threatend when its out, and could cause the poor little guy to kill over..lol

anyway, dont tempt fate.. idealy keep seperate.

thats what i was thinking i know some times when im defrosting mice for them they can smell it and get a bit excited, think i will end up moving the snakes to the back room as out of the two i guess the hamster will want our company more than the snakes will:lol2:

It's not the snakes or hamsters you have to worry about , I'd worry about putting my hand in there as well .
