I have had my beardie for 3 mths and today I notice her toes r twitching. I went to local reptile shop and was told to get some liquid calacium looked on ebay and there are loads for types.
Any ideas why she is twiching?

She is in a 3ft viv with slate and bambo root and cave. We feed mostly crickets and baby roaches with mealies as treats will dust every other day with cricet dust or nutrbol and she had a bowl of water in viv and is given salad everyday. There is a 3mth old twist uvb 10% bulb and a basking light that is approx 100

please help!!!!

Thanks

twitching toes is a sign of hypocalcemia which leads to mbd

I always though hypocalcemia was an overdose of calcium. A spot UVB bulb for a beardie with a hide will probably be insufficient so calcium cannot be digested properly. For a young beardie the basking spot needs to be 110-115 otherwise again they cant digest there food so will cause issues.

Do you gutload your livefood? Is it eating veg? if so what are you feeding it? Stuff like spinach inhibits calcium absorbtion.

I think im right in saying that nutrobal should be used 3 times a week and calcium carbonate 4x for a young beardie. How much livefood is it eating?

As Above, sounds like not enough UV/D3/Calcium.

At 3 months you need to be dusting 5 days a week with pure calcium powder and 2 days a week with nutrobal.

Also, swap your compact UV bulb for a proper UVB tube. For a 3ft viv the best one would be a 30" Arcadia D3+ 12% bulb. Get a reflector for the back of it and make sure your dragon can get close to it (within 6")

You need to do the above asap, as MBD can only be stopped, not undone, the longer you leave it the worse it will get.
